Arch Linux VS Pop_OS

When comparing Arch Linux vs Pop!_OS, the Slant community recommends Arch Linux for most people. In the question“What are the best Linux distributions for desktops?” Arch Linux is ranked 1st while Pop!_OS is ranked 29th. The most important reason people chose Arch Linux is:

"Arch's goal of simplicity means there's usually one preferred way to get things done - through organized and well documented configuration files. This focus, combined with the community's recognition that configuration files can be intimidating, has resulted in excellent documentation that's accessible to newcomers, and very instructive about how Linux actually works. The documentation is often so thorough that, when searching for solutions to problems while using other distributions, such as with video card drivers, oftentimes you'll find the most effective solution in the [Arch Linux wiki](https://wiki.archlinux.org/) or on the forums."

Pros of Arch Linux:                                Pros of Pop_os:

Excellent documentation                       A separate NVIDIA version

A package for almost everything          User-friendly installer

Cutting edge rolling release                 Made by a hardware seller

Excellent package management           Optimized for modern hardware

Highly customizable                             Ready to play games, out of the box

Cons of Arch Linux                              Cons of Pop_os:

        Manual install process                               64-bit only

        Instability can be an issue

        Works only on AMD64

While some systems may seem very attractive for one person, it may seem useless to others. Everything depends on the goal and occupation of the end user that determines  what distro will be chosen. I started my Linux journey on Kali, tinkering around with my wifi access point several years ago. As a long time windows user i decided to switch to Linux, after getting sick of lagginess of the Windows 10, awful update system. For me , who like to play games , stability and performance is a must , so my choice felt on Pop_os. While the Arch Linux seems a lot promising, it has poorer NVIDIA drivers support and it is rolling , so new undetected bugs/glitches may affect the system stability/performance which is not an option for me. Pop_os on the other hand is made by System76,a hardware company. It configures machines to ship with Linux pre-installed. This means its entire business model centers around delivering a quality desktop Linux experience. As a result, the company pours more attention onto the desktop. It can fix visual issues and may be able to provide a smoother overall experience than you would have installing a different version of Linux on your machine yourself. Providing Pop!_OS also empowers System76 to make certain fixes for users directly rather than having to coordinate with Canonical or the broader Ubuntu community.
